Our Auto Paint Repair Process
Scott’s Coach Works is a highly efficient paint shop with multiple downdraft spray booths to ensure a clean finish. Our professionals will always get the task done, whether to fix your collision damage or minor scrapes and scratches.
During a collision repair, a paint job is often necessary. We ensure to color-match and restore your car to its original beauty; after we fix your initial damage, we will get the job done quickly! Thanks to our meticulous attention to detail, we will restore your car to its original condition.
Scratches, chips, and other flaws are nearly unavoidable, but our repair work will make them unnoticeable. Car paint is helpful for more than just color. It’s an important part of keeping the body rust-free.
The first step in car paint repair is determining the extent of the damage. The paint on your automobile isn’t a single, homogeneous mass. It starts with a primer over the rust-prevention electro-coat, then the base and mid coats, adding color. The clear coat is then applied on top, providing the reflecting sheen along with physical and UV protection.
Some damage ends at the clear coat, making scratch and paint restoration easier. Scott’s Coach Works fundamental method entails smoothing out and filling in the defects, similar to headlamp repair. It’s also usually done in an open, well-ventilated area for safety reasons.
Our refinishing process involves sanding, buffing, and polishing so the paint is shiny and smooth to the touch when we’re finished. Each paint job receives a full buffing to make sure your car has a beautiful new finish. We start with a wash and dry followed by a clay bar rub down to remove contaminants from the paint. Next, we wipe the car with a microfiber towel and prepare the car for polish. We work in small areas of the car to carefully polish each section to keep the paint job free of imperfections. To finish, we once again wipe the car down with a microfiber towel and reveal a perfectly polished vehicle.
Automobile paint repair is much more about restoring and correcting than mending scratches. Scratches, swirl marks, and other minor blemishes are removed. Polishing kits, which generally come with many buffing pads and compounds, are recommended for this purpose.
Some of the most well-known brands are 3M, Chemical Guys, Meguiars, and Automotive Touchup. These are abrasives that have been particularly developed to eliminate surface defects. And, like with the clear coat restoration, it is ideal for applying wax afterward for optimal long-term protection.
